Probate is the process where estates of the deceased are distributed to the heirs. Properties auctioned through probate are overseen by a probate judge and goes through court, so the process can be a bit long. Therefore, probate auctions are not good candidates for people looking to buy a home for themselves to live in. But they are attractive to investors who aren't constrained by a relocation schedule.
